Peggy Grinvalsky, Art
Conservatory faculty member since 1997. Bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Kansas, majoring in design and illustration. Worked toward a masters of fine art degree in drawing and painting at the University of Americas, Mexico City, Mexico.
Peggy is a studio artist focused in drawing and painting, as well as an illustrator who is experienced in all aspects of book illustration and brochure design. Her background in museum murals includes scenic design and large art, illustration and photography. She is also currently teaching illustration at Nicolet Technical College in Rhinelander.
Daniel Henly, Classical Guitar, Suzuki Violin,
Violin,Banjo, Dulcimer
Conservatory faculty member since 1998. Music education degree from University of Minnesota.
Daniel's area of focus was music composition and theory. He majored in classical guitar with Jeffrey Van. He then made harpsichords and dulcimers, and taught private lessons at his own music store in St. Paul. He later earned a Doctorate of Psychology, and now works as an intensive in-home therapist for Northwoods Alliance for Children and Families through Oneida County's Human Services Center.
Marie Marin, Piano, Voice
Conservatory faculty member since 2000. Bachelor degree in music and vocal education, Luther College, Decorah, Iowa.
Marie taught elementary music education in public schools in Wisconsin, Minnesota and New Mexico. She has also directed church choirs and plays the organ. Marie organized and directs NCWCA's Lakeland Children’s Chorus.
Laurie Timm, Children's Chorus Director, Flute
Faculty member since September 2009. Laurie studied music, dance and theatre at Rockford College and additional studies at Northern Illinois University. After college, Laurie performed at many musicals at a local theatre group and at neighboring colleges. In Illinois, she sang with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, DuPage Symphony and West Suburban Symphony. She has written and arranged music for both flute and vocals.
Darrell Tarnow, Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo
Faculty member starting January 2010. Darrell has taught guitar at Beihoff Music, Walker School of Music and the DAL Music Studios. He plays guitar and sings with a group called "Tamarack" led by Greg Thomas at Ascension Lutheran Church in Minocqua. They perform contemporary music.
Jennifer Anderson, Violin, Viola, Cello, - Suzuki
and Traditional
Faculty member starting September 2010. She graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa with a Bachelor in Music degree. Jennifer comes to us from the Conserve School in Land O'Lakes. She has been a private music instructor and an orchestra director. She has also performed as an orchestra member in numerous symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles and pit orchestras. She has served as a Junior and Senior violin adjudicator in district competitions. Jennifer will also teach fiddle.
Ruth Warbalow, Piano and Voice
Faculty member starting September 2011. Ruth graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater with a Master of Music Education Degree, Kodaly emphasis. Ruth has been the vocal and general music instructor at MHLT school for 34 years. She has been the director of a local adult church for 26 years and accompanist for the Northwoods Hymn Festival for 5 years. Ruth has also accompanied musicals at LUHS for 7 years.
