Art Classes (8 Week Session)


Studio artist, muralist and book illustrator Peggy Grinvalsky offers a relaxed way to learn to draw everything you see, develop a lively sense of color and experiment with bold vitality. Work in color pencil, watercolor mixed media and acrylic paint in an on-going drawing & painting class or learn the basics of book illustration/graphic design and then develop your own dynamic style. All materials & tools provided. Come in comfortable old clothes, bring your favorite comfort food. Six students are needed for a class to be held. Register by following the link below.

CHILDREN’S ART CLASSES

 

Start your child’s artistic life with loose and lively mixed-media art explora-tion that focuses on developing a joy in creating, an intuitive understanding of color, sharp observation and fearless experimentation.

September 8th 

Introduction to Photography- In this workshop, you’ll learn what composes a camera ”system” including batteries, memory cards, accessories and what you should carry in your camera bag at all times. The basic elements of photography, light, your camera's features and menu will also be covered. 

September 22nd

The Exposure Triangle- This workshop will address how to achieve properly exposed photographs using the three basic exposure elements - Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO.

October 6th

Camera Manipulations- Focusing selections, light metering options and depth of field will be covered.

October 13th

How to Take Better Cell Phone Photos- They say that the best camera you have is the one you have with you, but do you know how to access all of the capabilities and settings your cellphone offers? Learn how to take better photos at any moment that are ready to filter on Snapchat and Instagram in this first time offering. 

 

Teens to adult. Basic camera operation & functions. Exposure manipulations & settings. Basic composition. Overview of accessories. Digital media, files & storage. Overview of photo editing programs. Assignments involving nature, landscapes, portraits and action photography. All cameras welcome. Instructor Howard Honig. 

 

Meet the Instructor: Photography classes instructed by Howard Honig. Howard is a second generation photographer and has previously taught classes at Campanile.  He studied at Columbia College in Chicago and spent several years working on the City of Chicago press staff.  His duties involved covering Mayors Michael Bilandic and Jane Byrne and other political figures.  He specializes in photo journalism and product photography, weddings and events.

Circle in the Center  (Visiting Artist One-Day Workshops)

Campanile Center for the Arts hosts a series of visiting artist workshops called Circle in the Center. Held the second Saturday of each month, these workshops are held on the stage in the Campanile auditorium underneath the large circular skylight. Participants learn a new technique or skill from a different local artist. All materials & tools provided. Some classes fill quickly, so please register early.
